Senior Vice President, Cyberspace Operations
Tim serves as By Light’s Senior Vice President for Cyberspace Operations, supporting the Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Network as a subject matter expert for cyberspace plans and operations. His current focus is on defensive cyberspace operations to include the education, training, and exercise of individual and collective skills required for network defenses. Tim joined By Light in 2015 after retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps – his last four years of service at U.S. Cyber Command as the Chief of Fires, responsible for offensive cyberspace operations, and command priorities supporting the development of the Unified Platform and the Cyber Mission Forces. Tim’s cyberspace operational experience is reinforced by service as a Marine Corps infantry officer campaigning in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia. Tim is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds multiple master’s degrees in planning at the operational and strategic levels of war.
Chief Technology Officer, Cyberspace Operations
Ken joined By Light in 2018 as the Chief Technology Officer of the company’s Cyberspace Operations Vertical and Principal of EmberSec, a division of By Light. His responsibilities include leading the discovery, evaluation, integration of best inbreed cybersecurity technologies and services to reduce risk to By Light’s clients and partners. Ken brings over 24 years of Information Technology and Cybersecurity expertise in Threat Emulation, Penetration Testing, Hunting, Incident Response, and Systems Engineering. He is a decorated combat Veteran and retired Soldier. Some of his previous assignments include various warfighting units, Army’s Criminal Investigation Command, Army Cyber Command, United States Cyber Command, and the National Security Agency. Ken was a major contributor in standing up the Cyber Mission Force and the Army’s Cyber Branch. Ken earned his BS in Technical Management from DeVry University and maintains over 30 commercial certifications including CISSP, OSCP, and 12 GIAC certifications.
Vice President, Cyber Training
Laura is the Vice President of Cyber Training at By Light corporation. In this role, she is leading a product development team that is shifting the paradigm for cybersecurity teaching, training and testing by focusing on active, continuous learning driven by the user. She also develops concepts to support cyber exercises for the US Cyber Mission Forces as part of the Persistent Cyber Training Environment. She was instrumental in the creation of the first ever Cyber Protection Team Crew Operations Manual for US Military Forces and National Guard Teams using her concept of a small, agile mission team that has been adopted as the standard. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Notre Dame. She also has a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law. Laura is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds certifications in gamification and game development. Laura was recognized as the “Cybersecurity Woman of the Year – North America 2019”.
Vice President, Cyber Training
Kevin is the Vice President of Cyber Training at By Light corporation and Chief Technology Officer for CyberCENTS, a By Light Company. He has over 15 years of experience within DoD Cyber Operations and leads the development of a cyber range portfolio used for cyber training for DoD, Federal, and Commercial customers, including serving as the Program Manager for the stand-up of the first 6 US Air Force Cyber Protection Teams at Scott AFB. He has led the development of several cyber operations, cyber training, vulnerability/configuration management and network optimization platforms including the development of Air Force Cyber Weapon Systems. He has personally performed over a hundred Cybersecurity Assessments across DoD, Federal and Commercial customers. Kevin has an extensive technical background with certifications that include the Cisco CCIE, ISC2 CISSP & CAP, Microsoft MCSE, EC-Council CEH, PMI PMP and Six Sigma Black Belt. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Yale University and two Masters of Engineering from the University of Colorado (Telecommunications and Engineering Management).
Vice President, Cyberspace Operations
Ryan serves as By Light’s Vice President for Cyberspace Operations, concurrently supporting business development and operations. Ryan joined By Light in 2017 after serving in leadership roles at EG&A, IBM, and ManTech. Ryan’s cyberspace experience is reinforced by service as a Marine Corps officer campaigning in Iraq. Ryan is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.
Vice President, CyberCENTS Engineering
Gary serves as By Light’s Vice President of Engineering for Cyberspace Training and Exercises. Gary joined By Light in 2020 after serving in technical leadership roles at both startup and Fortune 100 companies (including Circadence, AT&T, NCR, and Sun/Oracle) focused on network and cyber security related products. Gary has a customer-focused mindset augmented by his experiences delivering successful solutions to both DoD and commercial customers. Gary has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Management Science from the University of San Diego and an MBA from the University of Redlands.
Vice President, CyberCENTS Programs
Steph serves as By Light’s Vice President of CyberCENTS® Programs managing CENTS® range-based programs for support, exercises, and training. She also manages relationships with customers purchasing our cyber range solutions and supports business development for CENTS cyber ranges and support. Joining By Light in 2019 with the acquisition of Metova Federal, Steph has been with the CENTS program since its inception in 2007 at EADS North America (Airbus), Camber Corporation, and Metova. Steph is a 24-year Air Force Veteran retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. She has an undergraduate degree in Information Systems Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Information Technology.
